The selection of works for Joe Dunne's solo exhibition was made under the loose title of Paintings from Home as all the paintings are in one way or another, responses to the environment close to the artist's hometown and to interiors and subjects within his actual home. They depict for the most part aspects of suburban life on the outskirts of Dublin City and just beyond.

Joe Dunne's painting "Portrait of Cara" was awarded first place in the inaugural Davy Portrait Awards.
These awards organised by Davy and Arts & Business are intended to showcase innovation and excellence in contemporary portrait painting. The award winning portraits and shortlisted works from this competition were exhibited in November 2008 at the Naughton Gallery in Belfast and then toured to Farmleigh House, Dublin in 2009.
